Beyond Brainstorming: Expanding What Is Possible

$247.00

Our training tells us not to explore options until all the information has been shared and understood, and the clients have made a shift from debate to dialogue. Option-generating is supposed to be the satisfying stage when we roll up our sleeves and come back to the “table” to find creative solutions for mutual benefit.

But ….

Have you ever experienced a case where the “table” is no longer set for creativity, but is laden with demands and unproductive attempts at “deal-making”? Have you tried “brain-storming”, but it didn’t work? Have you felt yourself sliding back into directing, fixing or advocating when you hoped for something more collaborative?

When this happens, it doesn’t feel creative. And it doesn’t feel good.

This workshop will help you manage the final stages of your process in a way that keeps “what matters” front and center and builds on the essential ingredients for the best outcome. Working with what has been harvested, we will approach “option generation” as a co-creation, bringing the parties to the centre by focusing on the decisions they need to make rather than their “negotiating positions”.

We will identify the conditions that make brain-storming work, and explore other ways to expand what is possible.

Written Materials:

Five productive ways to explore possibilities (aka generate options)
Why brainstorming doesn’t work (and what you can do to make it work)
Managing a return to “demands” and “positions
Helping clients take responsibility for their decisions

Live 2-hr session:
